Wii Wheel Review
by Kyle McCoy
I’ve only used the Wii Wheel for Mario Kart for the Wii.
The problem with it is very simple. It gives us no point of reference. Let’s illustrate this by comparing it to a simple joystick. Like the Gamecube controller.

When a joystick is straight up, you know you’re character will go straight. All you have to do is hold the accelerator. Observe below.
And a joystick has a limited amount of movement. So, if you pull it all the way to the right or left, you know your character will turn as sharp as possible.
Now that you have those two points of space locked down in a fixed position, you can easily gauge how much to move the joystick in either direction, depending on the degree of the turn you have to make.

Compare that to just holding this stupid uncomfortable floating wheel with both hands right in front of you and having to guess about how hard to turn it in your imaginary car that you’re not really driving because it’s a goddamned video game!
See? No point of reference.
Folks, I see the advantage/fun to be had by using an actual wheel controller in a driving game. That woman is only having so much fun because her wheel is connected to something. Not just floating in front of her where her driving is only as good as her best guess. This Wii Wheel isn’t connected to anything. It’s just a complicated handle so you can hold your wii remote sideways.
Do you hold it parallel to the ground or yourself? How far do you have to turn it to get the desired turn? And to do special moves I have to jerk the wheel up like a spaz?
FINAL RATING: Not eligible. It doesn’t even deserve a rating. It's garbage.
