They speculate where they will be taken this week and what dangers they may encounter. The adults settle into their comfy chairs while the kids choose to stretch out on the floor. The best seat in the house isn't in front of any TV. It's next to the radio. For decades, this was the ritual of families across the country. After dinner, some nights would be filled with The Shadow and Little Orphan Annie. Others would be be a jazz band followed by The Adventures of Superman. Dick Tracy. Grande Ole Opry. Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar. Shakespeare. Sherlock Holmes. Suddenly, the whole world wanted a bedtime story. Times change. Theatre of the mind slowly faded away. Until now. The latest piece from Kyle McCoy is Twin Peaks inspired. Head on over to the Pixel Art Shop to check out more! From Kyle McCoy himself: This is happening!! The good people at t.b.d Brooklyn have volunteered to have their bar/gallery covered in my pixel art. I'll have a few of my classic pieces on display but I'll mostly be using the event to unveil brand new ones! Including, a very different kind of 3D pixel art. I'll be giving some sneak peeks leading up to the opening. Hope to see you there! We can't wait! To check out more of Kyle's work, head over to the Pixel Art Shop! Compass Creative Dramatics is doing great things. They currently have a Kickstarter project going with only two weeks left to go. We highly recommend you check out the cause along with their series of videos showing what will happen if they don't get funded! A bit more info below... We’re Compass Creative Dramatics, a children’s theatre that helps kids stretch their creativity and bravery muscles. Sometimes that means the courage to raise your hand in class or to stand up to a bully. Those things need practice just as much as our physical muscles do. Next summer, we want to provide a series of week long theatre camps where kids will come together and have a blast learning about the art of theatre through rehearsals and theatre-related workshops. Along the way, the kids learn about teamwork, respect, responsibility, caring, and trust, and we hope they leave the week not just excited about the awesome time they had with us, but are also stronger, more compassionate, and ready to step out and lead. The show we’ll be doing for our camps next summer is Peas & Harmony. It’s a quirky musical adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Princess & The Pea. It’s different than the story you remember, and in the end it teaches us that showing respect really paves the road to happiness. At the end of the week, they’ll get two public performances so Mom, Dad, Aunt Susie, Grandpa Joe, and all of their friends can come see the awesome work they’ve accomplished over the week. We plan on offering these camps in three cities across the Midwest that helped shaped OUR stories & lead us to where we are today: Bedford, Indiana, where Cassandra grew up, Sheboygan, Wisconsin, where Cathlyn's from, and Chicago, Illinois, where we work and play now! So, come be a part of this story and help create the magic for hundreds of families next summer! Thank you so much for your support! -- Cathlyn and Cassandra Good news, everyone!
